Join us in historic Jordan

Dear [Name,fallback=],

I am sending this email from Addis Ababa, en route to leading a tour to photograph the incredible Orthodox Easter celebrations in the ancient carved churches of Lalibela in Northern Ethiopia. For me, Ethiopia is the most fascinating country in Africa, and I can't wait to get back. Whenever I manage to get to a decent internet connection, I will be posting some images from the trip on this link, and also on our Instagram Feed.

We have had to change plans around somewhat for the end of 2019, so I wanted to take the chance to organise another shorter trip back to one of the most historic countries in the world, that has a history that spans many millennia - Jordan!

Impressions of Jordan

Once descibed to me, by a group of Bedouin round a campfire above the ancient city of Petra, as a quiet house in a noisy neighbourhood, Jordan is firmly back on the tourist map! It has just made the Lonely Planet hot list for 2019, and this is a great time to visit before the crowds return! We ran a version of this trip twice a few years ago, but have made a few tweaks to achieve what I believe is the best itinerary possible.

Jordan is a fascinating country, steeped in history, and with a warm and friendly population. You can find ruins from the Bible, Romans, Crusaders, Saladin and of course the Nabateans, who built Petra. You are even able to wander in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia in the sprawling wilds of Wadi Rum.

We have arranged this trip to take in the very best of this photogenic country, but in a shorter format than our usual tours to make it more affordable.

We start in the sophisticated city of Amman, before exploring nearby ruins and a wildlife wetland - not something that you would expect in a desert country. Certainly there is very little water in our next location, the atmospheric Wadi Rum. We will be able to photograph eroded rocks and star trails from our desert camp, before continuing on to the Red Sea at Aqaba. This is a great place to join a snorkel boat, to witness the remarkablly well preserved coral relatively close to shore.

Nothing can prepare you for the scale and the majesty of the ancient city of Petra. The approach, along the narrow siq, is one of the true Wonders of the World, and we have three nights here - enough to explore every corner.

Less travelled, we visit the Kerak Crusader castle and then the remote Dana Nature Reserve, where we stay in a traditional village at the top of a deep valley.

Our final destination is the pleasant city of Madaba, which we use as a base to float in the salty waters of the Dead Sea, explore Mount Nebo and wander the sprawling Roman city of Jerash. This ancient city has a full sized chariot track where races used to entertain the population. Jerash has been hailed as the best preserved Roman city outside of Italy.

Impressions of Jordan departs from Amman on the 22 October 2019 for 11 days, and costs from 1795 per person based on twinshare. A single supplement option is also available. We are holding bookings open until the 10 May, before deciding on the final list. You can see the full itinerary here, or you can find the booking form here.

Impressions of Laos

Our Laos itinerary for the end of the year is now half full, so if you would like to join us, please don't hesitate! We travel from the top to the very bottom of this entrancing country, visiting all of the highlights - including the fabled Plain of Jars.

Laos is still relatively unchanged, compared to many parts f SOutheast Asia, and this is the perfect time of year to visit. Laos boasts stunning scenery, a vibrant culture and religion, incredibly friendly people and amzing food. You will also get the chance to sample a few Beer Lao - arguably the best beer in Asia!

Impressions of Laos departs from Luang Prabang on the 27 November 2019 for 14 days, and costs from 1995 per person based on twinshare. A single supplement option is also available. We are holding bookings open until the 22 April, before deciding on the final list. You can see the full itinerary here, or you can find the booking form here.

Impressions of Morocco

We have just two places left on September's Impressions of Morocco photo tour, which spends ten days in this most fascinating and photogenic of countries. We will visit many of the highlights in and around Marrakech, and will even spend a night in the rolling dunes of the Sahara Desert.

Impressions of Morocco also spends a night in the ruined kasbah of Ait Benhaddhou, which will be instantly familiar from being the backdrop to many films and even featured in Game of Thrones.

Impressions of Morocco departs from Marrakech on the 19 September 2019 for 10 days, and costs from 1495 per person based on twinshare. To see more of the amazing places that we visit on this exciting photography tour, you can see the full itinerary here, or if you want to snap up one of the final three places on this trip, you can find the booking form here.
