Although now firmly on the tourist trail, Burma still manages to retain its charm and culture. Resolutely Buddhist, monks can be seen walking out on their alms round every morning, and the country is covered with ancient monasteries and temples.

Our first trip to the entrancing country of Myanmar (Burma) went so well that we couldn't wait to start planning a return. It also means that we have massively tweaked the itinerary, to offer more photo-opportunities and to cut out the things which didn't work as well the first time around. We still visit the lively and historic cities of Yangon and Mandalay; as well asBagan and Inle Lake; but we will also be exploring the religious complex at Monywa and drive up into the Chin Hills to see the remarkable tattooed tribes.

We are anticipating such a great interest in this trip, that we have organised two dates: in November 2016 and February 2017. Steve Davey will accompany both trips, helping you to pick up a wide range of photographic skills under his unique guidance, tuition and encouragement.

Our trip starts in the old Capital city of Yangon (Rangoon). We have some time to explore the beautiful Shwedagon Pagoda before heading off to catch a flight to the stunning city of Mandalay. Evocative in both name and atmosphere, we get to explore markets, the characterful waterfront and the famous teak bridge at U Bein.

Outside of Mandalay, we visit the religious complex at Monywa, home to many ancient temples, before returning to Mandalay.

We then drive to Bagan, to maximise our time viewing this incredible collection of ancient temples. There is so much to see here, and we will have plenty of time to explore.

From Bagan we make a excursion up to the Chin Hills in order to visit a number of tribal villages,

After returning to Bagan, we fly to Inle Lake, and explore the floating gardens and photograph the famous leg-rowers. We have plenty of time to explore the lake, and some of the villages on its shore.

Outside of Inle Lake, we have the chance of a short trek to see the rural side of the region, and visit some local pagodas and even an ethnic village.

Our trip finishes in Yangon, where you can explore further on the Intrepid Travel extension to the Golden Rock at Kyaikhtiyo or catch your homeward flight.
