What will I learn on this course?
There are many options on most DSLRs and it can be confusing knowing what settings you should use. This course looks at the advanced DSLR settings that are used by professional photographers to get the most out of their cameras. We will start with a short illustrated talk on some of the options, including the use and benefits of the RAW format. This will be followed by a practical hands on demonstration in some of the most atmospheric places along the River Thames, then we will end up looking at digital workflow and simple RAW processing of some of your pictures on a laptop.

Using your camera should be second nature to you. Only then will you be able to concentrate on your photography and not your camera! Yet there are a plethora of options on the camera which can confuse and intimidate!
This course looks at the advanced DSLR techniques that you need to know about to get the most out of your camera and those that you can ignore. By mastering exposure, white balance and shooting RAW you will be able to take your photography to the next level, leaving you free to concentrate on the creative aspects of photography and not get mired down in your camera manual. Crucially, this course also looks at getting sharper pictures, and how to make sure your images are in focus.
The course starts with a short illustrated talk before we move on to an extensive practical session whilst exploring some of the more photogenic parts of the River Thames. We finish off with look at some of the pictures you have taken and a tutorial on RAW processing.
